Kauniste was founded in 2008 in Helsinki, Finland to unite the talents of young Scandinavian graphic designers and craftspeople. Drawing inspiration from Finnish kitchen textiles of the 1960s and 1970s, Kauniste combines the contemporary work of their designers with traditional screen-printing methods. The results are beautiful and classic textile designs, translated into products to be cherished in daily life for years to come.

All Kauniste textiles are hand printed in Finland with water-based, solvent-free inks. Great care is taken not to waste water during production. Linen blend fabrics are chosen for their durability, absorption and quick drying properties. Linen leaves virtually no excess waste in production, and only improves in texture with age.

The Kauniste cushion covers available at Ten Things were designed by Finnish graphic artists Matti Pikkujämsä, Hanna Konola and Hannele Äijälä.
